We're in the book of James on Wednesday nights. And last night once again God moved in a mighty way. There was such a buzz in the air last night, as God sent forth His word and worked mightily in the hearts of His people. Not only did He work in the hearts of His children, but people came forward to give their hearts to Christ. Exciting stuff, the kind of stuff that only Jesus Christ can do, and so with that I give Him all the glory.

Wednesday Night Prayer

The Lord told His disciples that "men always ought to pray and not lose heart." This is a beautiful reminder from Jesus Christ that no matter what we should never give up on prayer. Keep praying, and the most we can do is pray for others. Tonight at our Wednesday night service we are having a time of prayer for the sick, the broken hearted, and for those who just need prayer. I'm looking forward to how God is going to move in our midst tonight. Come on out tonight and join us in a time of prayer.

VBS/ Extreme Team

We hosted the "Truth Circus VBS this week at the church and there was an amazing amount of spiritual fruit. Not only did the 5-11 years participate in this year's VBS, but ten of our youth joined Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley's fourteen youth for a five day mission trip in the community. Wow, what a God we serve. "Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you higher then any other, Our God is healer, awesome in power, Our God, Our God. Amen!

Before the radio rally I had an opportunity to hang out with Pastor Pancho from Calvary Chapel Montebello, and Pastor Ray from Calvary Chapel Belen. These dudes are awesome men of God, and it was a good time to kick back and just talk about the Lord. God is good.

The church sign went up on Thursday of last week. It's awesome to have a sign up so that the people in the community know that there is a church in their area. But more then that, it is a sign that God will use to point people to Jesus Christ. May the glory of the Lord shine upon us as we seek to do His will and His will only.

God Never Ceases To Amaze

God never ceases to blow my mind. I'm teaching through the book of Ephesians on Sunday morning and yesterday we found ourselves in Ephesians 5:25-27, "Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for." What blows my mind is that the message was more focused on men stepping up to the plate and loving their wives. But God does what He does and when I gave the invitation for people to come forward to receive Jesus Christ into their hearts, He brought forward a lady who was broken and open to receiving Jesus Christ into her heart. As it says in Isaiah 55:8, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are My ways your ways, says the Lord."

It has been a while since I last blogged, but since then some exciting things have been taking place in the new church building. And one of them was the arrival of the chairs. We have been waiting and waiting for these chairs and finally they arrived. And as you can see we had some great servants helping out with the chairs. God is good, and I love the work that He is doing at Calvary Chapel Southwest. If you remember keep our Radio Rally with Pancho Juarez in prayer. Pancho along with the Gutierrez brothers will be at the Church on July 7, 2010.

"Pray For all Men"

As the National Day of Prayer looms on the horizon, I want to encourage each and everyone of you to seek the Lord on behalf of our nation. Paul exhorted us in I Timothy 2:1-3 that "supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for Kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Stand and pray and see what the Lord will do through a praying people. Psalm 55:1, "Give ear to my prayer, O God, and do not hide yourself from my supplication. Attend to me, and hear me." Amen!

Exodus

I am currently reading through the book of Exodus, and time and time again
I have come across some amazing nuggets of truth. For Example, in Exodus 23:13, 32-33.
It says, "And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you." God is clear and to the point that it is Him, and Him alone that we are to serve and worship. There are two things that serving other gods will bring into a persons life. "They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin. If other gods are in your hearts, or in your homes, they will make you sin, and they will bring a snare into your life. But Jesus Christ will set you free, and He will give you everything that you need for life and godliness. Jesus said in John 8:32, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Christ Is Good

I was just thinking about how Good Jesus Christ is. The things that he has done, is doing, and will do is simply amazing. My hope and prayer is that you would taste and see that Jesus is good. Why did God wrestle Jacob? Why does He want to wrestle with you and me? For the same reason I used to wrestle with my sons. It’s something called intimacy. God likes to wrestle things through with me and you because He enjoys us. It’s as if He says to us, “Let’s wrestle this thing through hour after hour, day after day, even month after month because not only will you find that I’ll come through eventually, but in the process, we will develop a wonderful intimacy.” That’s why the original Greek text makes it clear that we are to “keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking” (see Matthew 7:7), for that is how intimacy is developed; that is how prayer is answered. Wrestling provides unique opportunities for discovery. As you measure your strength against that of your opponent, as you assume various positions and are held in numerous holds, you discover things about yourself and your opponent you couldn’t have known otherwise. So too, God invites us to wrestle with Him in order that we might discover things about Him and ourselves we could learn in no other way. As you wrestle in prayer, you might find that what God gives to you and does for you is entirely different than what you had expected. Jacob asked to be blessed, instead he was broken, but the answer was better, because our Father knows best.Keep on wrestling, gang. You’ll have intimacy with the Lord. You’ll make discoveries about the Lord. And you’ll be changed radically by the Lord in the very process of praying.

I'm so excited about having our very first Good Friday Service. This is something that has been in my heart to do for many years, and now by the grace of God it has come to pass. It is going to be a sweet service as we look back to what Jesus had to go through for us. As it says in Isaiah 53, "He was despised, He was wounded, He was bruised, He was oppressed. He was cut off from the land of the living, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." I don't know about you, but it's hard for me to imagine what Jesus had to go through for my sins, and to give me life. He was nailed to the cross for me, and for you. This Easter season let's reflect upon the bloody death of Jesus Christ, and stand in awe of the resurrected Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "HE died... HE rose.. WE LIVE!

As many of you know we had our very first service last Sunday at the new building, and man was it radical. When I first walked in, I could feel the excitement in the air. It was awesome. On top of that family members and old friends came out to be a part of this exciting day. And to top it all off, three people gave their lives to Jesus Christ. Wow, what a day! As I have said before get ready, and hold on for the ride because Jesus has got so much more in store for this church. Daniel 11:32, "But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits."

"The Doors"

Good news, the doors for the church came in today! This is beautiful news because we can now move forward with our move in date. The new move in date is set for March 7, 2010. Man, are we excited to see what the Lord will do. Paul said in I Corinthians 16:9"For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries." There's no doubt in our minds that the Lord has opened an amazing door for the preaching and teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in a part of the city that is in desperate need of Jesus Christ. I'm stoked to see what God has in store for our next chapter of ministry. Pray for the ministry of CCSW.

The time, talent, and sacrifice that has been put into this church project has been stunning to say the least. We are currently working Monday's through Thursday's and on Saturdays to try and complete the project by February 7, 2010. Building Update

The building project is moving full steam ahead. In the last week all the insulation and most of the drywall was completed. The body of Calvary chapel Southwest is engaged in this project in a major way. There are so many skilled laborers who have spent hours and hours working on this building project. I thank God for these men and women who are devoted and dedicated to the work of the Lord. We're getting closer, but still have some work ahead of us. Pray, pray, and pray some more. God bless, and have a sweet Thanksgiving in Christ.

Ephesians In 3D

I started a new study in the book of Ephesians three weeks ago and it's such an amazing book.
In the first three chapters of the book God tells us what he has done for us. For example, "He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. He has redeemed us through His blood, He has sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise, He has made us alive who were dead in trespasses, and has saved us. The final three chapters of the book tells us how we are to respond to what God has done for us. We are to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called. We are to be imitators of God as dear children, and walk in love as Christ also has loved us and given himself for us. Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church, wives are called to respect their husbands, children are to obey their parents, and finally, we are told to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, and to put on the whole armor of God. I'm excited to see what God is going to do as we cruise through the book of Ephesians. Yesterday we had two professions of faith. And all I can say is God is good. May the Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you in all that you do.

Hi Everyone! I know it has been a long time since I last blogged. As you can imagine, a lot has been going on since then: We Finished the book of Revelation; Completed a four week series in the book of Jonah. On top of all that the building project has been in full swing.

It's amazing to see what God is doing as men and women donate their time, effort, and love to this project. Here's a picture of part of the plumbing that was done. By the way, the plumbing inspection passed, along with the framing inspection! The two big one's that we have now are the electrical and the HVAC. Hopefully this weekend we will start the sheet rocking.

Keep praying! May the Love of Jesus Christ be poured down upon you and your family.

This last week my wife and I celebrated ten years of marriage. It's such a joy to be married to a godly woman who loves Jesus Christ with a passion. Marriage is God's divine plan and when two people who are brought together by Christ, amazing things can and will happen. My encouragement to you is to keep God at the center of your marriage, to love Him with all your heart and to love one another with a God passion. "And the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh." Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." My prayer is that you will allow Jesus to take the wheel of your marriage and bless it.

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that we kicked off VBS this week and so far it has been amazing to see what God has done. In the first two days we have seen over 15 commitments made for Christ, over 30 volunteers serving the children, and about 100 kids attending this year's VBS. With three days left and an outreach on Friday afternoon, we are expecting God to do some more radical stuff. I wanted to update everyone on what's going on with the building. First of all we finished the wall with the strength and power of the Lord. It was amazing to see all the dedicated men and women come out for four consecutive nights and get this wall done. It was a huge blast to see the wall go up. All we could say was Wow! On the other hand, we have run into a snag with the city in regards to having to go through a special exception process. No problem because God reserves the right to change our plans. But if you could pray that we would still be allowed to continue with the next phase. May the Lord richly bless you in all that you do.

Boy, it has been a long time since I last blogged. It's amazing how fast time can get away from us. Paul understood this, in fact he said in Ephesians 5:15, "see then that you walk carefully, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." With that in mind, I wanted to give you an update on the church building, tonight we are going to start building one of the main walls. The building of this wall is very crucial to our church and very time sensitive. So for the next three nights we will be working many hours to try and accomplish this major part of the church. Please pray for strength, skill, and the Spirit to move in us as we build God's walls for His passion, power, and praise. God bless!

New Church Building

Resurrection Sunday

We had an awesome Resurrection service in the park. It was a bit chilly, but God did His work like He always does. Six adults and two children came forward to receive Jesus Christ into their hearts. Yesterday we studied Revelation 14:1-13, looking at how God has marked us out. The bible says that we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. In other words, God has stamped His mark of ownership upon us. Isn't it comforting to know that we belong to God, and that God will carry out the deal? Enjoy your day in the Lord!

Yesterday we had another awesome service as we continued in the book of Revelation. I'm so thankful to the Lord and to the body of Christ at CCSW. God is doing a fantastic work down in the valley. This Wednesday we will be meeting again for our third week of prayer & fasting as we pray for a building. We'd love to have you join us in prayer for God to provide a place for us to call home. "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." In His name.

The Two GI'S

Revelation 11:1-14

The Two Witnesses- or as I call them, the two GI'S. These "God Issued" men, are given supernatural powers to declare God's Word, to do God's Works and to perform miracles of judgment during the tribulation period.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

It is God's will that we are witnesses for Him. He has called us to reflect His Son Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world. We are living in some exciting times, therefore pray and ask God to use YOU in a Powerful & Mighty way!

Coming To A World Near You!

A SAD REALITY

Revelation 8 speaks of what's coming to a world near you! It's a sad reality. Isaiah describes the Tribulation period like this: “Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and He will destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.” I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.”

IS THERE HOPE?
There's Hope! You don’t have to go through the tribulation period. God has provided a way of escape for His church. The way of escape comes through Jesus Christ. He is the only way to escape the judgment to come.

Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

Psalm 103:8 “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.”

Ezekiel 18:32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies, says the Lord God. Therefore turn and live.”

GOD'S CALL TO YOU

God’s call to humanity is to Turn and Live! Don’t wait until the storm breaks out in all its fury.

Good Success

Joshua- A Successful Leader
"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

Three things are mentioned in this verse that gave Joshua success:

The law was not to depart from his mouth. In other words, Joshua was to talk about it.
Meditate in the Word day and night. To meditate is to ponder, think, reflect, it is reading and re-reading the Word. Paul the apostle said, “Fix you thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.” Biblical meditation causes us to focus on the one true God.
Observe to do according to all that is written in it. This means to obey and apply the Word of God to your life. James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

My hope and prayer is that you would find your success in Jesus Christ.

Trip to Santa Fe

Conflict

Last night in our marriage class we talked about how to deal with conflict God's way. Here's a snapshot of a few things that we discussed last night when it comes to dealing with conflict.
1. Pray about it. I Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
2. Deal with it (Ephesians 4:26; Matthew 5:23-24 and Matthew 18:15)
3. Grow with it. James 1:2-8
4. Bring God’s word into it. 2 Peter 1:3, 2 Timothy 3:14-17

Heaven In High Definition

God is so awesome, yesterday we had a great service as we started the fourth chapter of Revelation. Here's a little preview of heaven. Revelation 4 takes us into the throne room of God and gives a picture of what’s to come, and from what we do know about heaven, it’s going to be spectacular, out of this world, like nothing ever seen or heard. Think about it for a moment, we’ll be surrounded by God’s glory, forever in his presence, forever worshiping him, and not only that but God himself will be with us. Revelation 21:3 says behold, the home of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” It sounds like the most beautiful dream you could ever imagine. It sounds almost too good to be true, doesn't it? But it is true, and God says in Rev 21:5 that these words are true and faithful. It is really going to happen. God has gone to prepare a place for us, and that place is heaven. This is Heaven In High Definition.
